St Paul's Lutheran Church, ELCA ~ WELCA

Women of the ELCA is the women’s organization of the 4.8 million-member Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. This network of nearly 500,000 participants in 64 geographical areas (called synods) in the United States and the Caribbean exists for mutual support and bold action on participants’ faith in Jesus Christ. At St. Paul's the Women of the ELCA group is active and thriving and functions with the following purpose statement:

As a community of women, created in the image of God, called to discipleship in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to grow in faith, affirm our gifts, support one another in our callings, engage in ministry and action, and promote healing and wholeness in the church, the society, and the world.

All adult women of St. Paul's are members of the Women of the ELCA (W-ELCA).  They meet monthly as a group with devotions, a business meeting, a program and refreshments. Several special interest groups are also part of the W-ELCA organization including SEW (Stewardship Emphasis Work), Prayer Partners and Klassy Krafters.

For more information on the WELCA organization at St. Paul's please contact La Verne Ness at 608-782-1932.

These quilters meet the first Thursday of each month at 8:30 a.m. and make quilts from donated used and new materials.  The finished quilts are sent to Lutheran World Relief.  SEW also collects soap, and makes school kits, health kits, dress kits and layettes for Lutheran World Relief.

The Elizabeth, Lydia and Martha circles meet monthly for Bible Study from the Lutheran Woman Today magazine.  Other circle activities include keeping in contact with homebound members, bringing flowers from Sunday services to hospitalized and homebound members, and serving refreshments after funerals and other special occasions.  They also prepare activities for Bethany Riverside, a 123 bed skilled nursing facility.

Circle meeting times
